WHAT WE DO

STUDIO CLASSES

We have a welcoming yoga studio in Stockport town centre.  Here we teach a range of yoga styles so you can build a balanced and varied practice.

If you’re brand new to yoga, start with our Beginners Course.

COMMUNITY chair yoga

Chair Yoga is a gentle and accessible form of yoga which we do sitting down or using a chair for support.

It helps improve flexibility, strength and balance in a safe, supportive environment - making it ideal for older adults or people with mobility challenges.

Our Community Chair Yoga classes run in Reddish, Wythenshawe, Adswood and Lancashire Hill.

Over six weeks you’ll learn the essential poses, breathing techniques, and movements in a supportive environment. You’ll build confidence, improve flexibility, and discover a deep sense of calm and balance in body and mind.

Everything is designed for complete beginners. Hundreds of people have already started their yoga journey with this course - in fact, most of our regular students began with it.

Each week includes a structured studio class supported by a course manual, weekly video tutorials, and simple sequences to practice at home.

We focus our investment on three key priorities where we can make the biggest positive impact in Stockport and South Manchester:

  • Active Ageing

  • Mental Health

  • Underserved Communities

We deliver these priorities through a combination of reinvested profits and grant funding as we work towards becoming fully sustainable.

our priorities

ACTIVE AGEING

An elderly man performing a butterfly yoga pose on a blue mat in a fitness studio with a green logo on the wall.

We help older adults stay active, strong and independent for longer. Our accessible, place-based Community Chair Yoga classes reduce the effects of social isolation and support both physical and mental wellbeing. We also bring gentle yoga directly into hospitals to support older people experiencing acute mental ill health.

MENTAL HEALTH

A woman with short dark hair and freckles performing a yoga pose with arms raised above her head in a yoga class, with other women practicing in the background.

We know yoga has an important role to play in supporting good mental health for everyone. We take yoga onto mental health wards at Pennine Care NHS Trust to aid recovery from acute episodes, and we support people living in the community with serious mental illness. Through these partnerships we make yoga a genuine part of people’s recovery and wellbeing journey.

Underserved Communities

People participating in a seated yoga or stretching class in a room, with some individuals standing with arms raised, on colorful yoga mats.

We don’t believe yoga should be only for the wealthy and already fit. Many people assume yoga isn’t for them because it can feel elitist or out of reach. We’re changing that by taking yoga to people in their own communities, rather than expecting them to come to us. We break down financial and health barriers, particularly in less affluent areas of Stockport and South Manchester, so that everyone can benefit from the power of yoga.
