Our carefully structured Beginners Course is the perfect introduction to yoga.
Over six weeks you'll learn the essential poses and breathing techniques to unlock a deep sense of calm, peace and balance in mind and body
Designed for complete newbies, each week we'll guide you through a structured studio class supported by your course manual, weekly video tutorials and new sequences to practice at home.
Our Beginners Course costs £75.

Learn simple, accessible yoga breathing and the six essential pose groups.

Forward Bends & Balances
Exploring movement from the hips and finding balance in the body and mind.
week 3
backbends & twists
Discover the energy of moving your spine in different directions.
week 4
sun salutations
Classic yoga movement and breathing patterns that you can do anytime, anywhere!
week 5
warrior strength
Find your inner power and meet the Warrior pose family.
week 6
putting it all together
You're ready to work through a full 60 minute practice of everything you've learned.

6 studio classes
Six, weekly hour-long classes at our spacious Stockport studio. All equipment is provided.

A comprehensive PDF e-manual to support the course.
6 Video Lessons
Each week you'll receive a new video and sequence to practice at home in between your studio classes.
Meet your teacher
Upward Frog Founder Emma opened the studio in January 2019, and currently teaches Hatha Yoga at the studio alongside community-based classes and sessions on the acute mental health wards at local hospitals.
Emma is a Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals and has over 700 hours of yoga teacher training and almost 7,000 hours of teaching experience.

Beginners Course FAQs

No! The course is aimed at complete beginners so you don’t need to be able to touch your toes or anything like that.

Parts of each lesson will involve sitting on the floor (or on a block or bolster). If you can’t easily get up and down from the floor we recommend our Chair Yoga classes which are suitable for complete beginners.

You don’t need to bring anything other than yourself as everything is provided. If you have your own mat, you’re welcome to bring it.

There are a few conditions which cannot be supported. We do not recommend the class if you have recently had a heart attack or stroke, uncontrolled or acute conditions, or if you have had surgery within the last six months. We can support well-controlled angina, high blood pressure, cholesterol, COPD and asthma. We can also support osteopenia and arthritis, however if you have osteoporosis please contact us to discuss as Chair Yoga may be more appropriate. This course is not suitable if you are pregnant.
