Emma started her career working in business and academic librarianship with Cheshire County Council, Lancashire Enterprises and Manchester Polytechnic.

In 1994 she moved to London to take up a role with West London TEC as Research Manager, which led to a role on the original management team of Business Link London West. 

Between 1997 and 2018 she worked in HR consultancy in a variety of research management and project roles, working with companies such as British Airways, GlaxoSmithKline, Vodafone, Tesco and Serco whilst enjoying a long association with Business Link and dot.gov.

A mental health crisis in 2014 led to her qualifying as a yoga teacher.

In 2018 Emma retired from her career and opened Upward Frog studio in the centre of Stockport, her adopted home town.   

In 2023 she gave up ownership of the company and created Upward Frog CIC with the vision of breaking down barriers to yoga participation and improving the mental, physical and emotional health of the local community.
