International Day of Yoga 2019

This is the sequence we practiced at our celebration of International Day of Yoga on Friday 21 June 2019.

Style:

We combined yin, vinyasa, hatha and restorative styles in this practice.

Yin

  • Constructive Rest

  • Knee to chest, hip opening, twisting

  • Reclined Butterfly

  • Butterfly

  • Deer

Flow

  • Three rounds of Classical Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara)

  • Two rounds of Sun Salutation B with High Lunge (Ashta Chandrasana) variation on the second round

  • Eagle balance (Garudasana) transitioning into Warrior III (Virabhadrasana III) with Eagle arms

Hatha

  • Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II)

  • Triangle (Trikonasana)

  • Half Moon (Ardha Chandrasana)

  • Tree (Vrksasana) with Half Lotus (Ardha Padmasana) option

  • Arm balance practice: Plank, Garland, Crow, Eight Angle (Kumbhakasana, Malasana, Bakasana, Astravakrasana)

  • Locust (Salabhasana)

  • Head to Knee (Janu Sirsasana)

Restorative

  • Supported Childs Pose or Supported Twist

  • Stonehenge Savasana or other Savasana variation
